Culture, News

Piper Berg worked as a sales and marketing intern for C2Dx throughout the spring and summer of 2023. She’s a sales and marketing student at Western Michigan University, with expected graduation in 2024. During her time with C2Dx, Piper focused on T/Pump® business development in the veterinary space and lead engagement projects.

Learn more about Piper below.

Interest in C2Dx:

Helping people. I grew up as a dancer, and I was always at the doctor, always injured. I knew I wanted to help people in that way, but that it’d never be from the point of a nurse, doctor, or practitioner. Being able to be a part of the healthcare world and help people is what really motivated me towards medical devices.

I’m studying sales and marketing going into my senior year at Western Michigan University. Originally, I was going for a human resources degree. I learned quickly that the last thing I want to do is sit in meetings and behind a desk all day. I love the flexibility of sales and marketing and that you get to work with people out in the field, and still have a good team that you work with. I was excited to try it out at C2Dx.

Biggest Take Away from Internship:

Probably teamwork. This internship experience has been more than I could’ve ever imagined. I got to learn from every aspect of the business, which I thought was really awesome. The experience has really helped me figure out what I want to do when I graduate.

Being a part of the team, working with other departments with people all focusing on the same goal and being able to strategize. The team works best when they’re with each other, and I can tell that everyone learns from each other. I’ve never had an internship before, so I’m used to a classroom and school environment. So, being in the office environment where I saw other people be successful was pretty cool.

Favorite Project

I worked with the T/Pump product line and researched the veterinary market. There wasn’t a lot of information on it, so it was a lot of researching and time on Google. That led to reaching out to customers to interview and gather the information to understand market reach and develop a plan to either target or maybe step back and table that idea.

Technical Skills Enhanced:

A major part of this internship was being assigned a project and getting to figure it out on my own. To schedule meetings with people and ask those questions. In the real world, you don’t get step-by-step instructions, so being able to figure out everything on my own first and then work with the team to clarify those questions was important. Also, having everyone to bounce your ideas off of I think was also very beneficial.

Future in the Medical Device Industry:

I knew I wanted to do something sales-related, but there are so many roles out there so, before this internship, I was pretty lost. Learning about the different roles that are at C2Dx and in Medical Device helped me create a career path — not only for my job after graduation but what my goals would be years into my career.

Future Plans:

Finishing school, I have a year and not many classes left, so I’m excited to kind of just have fun and enjoy my last year. After graduation, hopefully, a marketing associate role somewhere. I’ve loved my time here learning about the marketing associate role and how it looks in day-to-day life.
